World:
Personal Reflections from a Research Odyssey
Donald E. Miller

The world of Christianity is being turned
upside down, with a dramatic shift in locus from the Northern to the
Southern hemisphere. Undergoing dramatic growth, this emerging church
in the "Two-Thirds World" is heavily Pentecostal, independent,
non-denominational, very poor, and little understood by those in the
Northern and Western hemispheres. For four years, Donald Miller spent
two months each spring visiting dozens of rapidly growing Pentecostal
and charismatic churches in 20 countries in the developing world.
In this report, Miller reflects on the leadership patterns he observed
and how we in the U.S. might learn from our fellow Christians in the
Southern hemisphere. Includes commentaries from Daniel Aleshire, Chad
Hall, Grant Wacker, and Will Willimon. Miller is executive director
of the Center for Religion and Civic Culture and professor of religion
at the University of Southern California. Up to five copies of the
printed version are available for free. For larger orders please contact
